My Article About the Comet of 1577 and Takiyuddin
Thanks to the request and help
International Comet Quarterly editor, Daniel W.
E. Green, my article about the Turkish-Ottoman astronomer Takiyuddin
(Taqi al-Din) was published in the January 2004 issue of the above
publication. The article talks about his observation of the Great Comet
of 1577, also observed by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. Courtesy
of Dan Green, I scanned the article from the publication and posted it
below, page by page. I'd like to express my sincere thanks to Dan, for
his guidance, help and support during the preparation of this article.
In time, I plan to post both the text version of the article and
include further information about the life and works of this great
astronomer who established the first astronomical observatory in the
Turkish soil. You can also find several links about him below.
Below are the scanned pages from the
International Comet Quarterly, January 2004 issue, Vol. 26, No. 1,
pages 3-7, copyright 2004.
